The Piner-Olivet Union School District( POUSD) is a K-6 district located in the northwest section of Santa Rosa in Sonoma County. It currently has 1373 K-6 students enrolled in four, K-6 elementary schools: Jack London Elementary, Piner Elementary, Schaefer Elementary, and Olivet Elementary. In addition the District has approved a 7-8 charter middle school and a 9-12 charter high school with a combined enrollment of 305 students. The total District enrollment (elementary and charter schools) is 1678 students. By ethnicity the student enrollment breaks down as follows: American Indian or Alaska Native, 2.2%; Asian, 6.5%; Pacific Islander, 1.1%; Filipino, 1.8%; Hispanic or Latino, 31.4%; African American, 3.9%; White (not Hispanic), 53%. The District has 407 English Learners with 296 of English Learners in Spanish. Four hundred and fifty-five students receive free or reduced lunches.

Students in grades 4-6 participate in the District’s GATE Program. This year’s GATE Program with 44 GATE students represents 3.2% of the total K-6 enrollment.
